Archibold
Archibold is a display font designed for the Udinese soccer team, intended for use on uniforms, screens, and gadgets. The typeface design was inspired by the shape of the elliptical arch above the central grandstand of the Friuli Stadium (now Bluenergy Stadium) in Udine. This architectural element is a distinctive symbol of the facility and has been present since its inauguration in 1976 and preserved during subsequent renovations. Metaphorically, the arch incorporates two fundamental concepts in the world of sports: on the one hand, movement and dynamism, highlighted by the sinuosity of the curve; on the other hand, strength and resistance, manifested both by the thickened edges and the concrete with which it is built. The name Archibold chosen for the font harks back to Archibald Leitch (1865-1939), a well-known British architect and engineer who specialized in stadium design.
